Always interested in trying something new to help raise money for the Boca Raton Police Department, The Boca Raton Police Foundation’s (BRPF) True Blue Society held its most recent mixer at an unusual venue: a furniture store.
When Sklar Furnishings, an upscale furniture store located on Federal Hwy. in Boca Raton, offered to host True Blue’s June mixer, the Society embraced the outside-the-box idea.
“It’s really important that we give back to the community,” Sklar Furnishing’s Vice President of Customer Relations Linda Paton said. “We’ve never done anything with the Police Foundation before, and I think it’s such a great organization. For us, it’s all about giving where we live.”
More than 50 True Blue Society members and guests gathered at Sklar Furnishings on June 11, enjoying good food, beverages and the camaraderie that comes with helping ensure Boca Raton remains one of South Florida’s safest, most secure cities.
The True Blue Society is a dynamic ambassador group of more than 50 local business leaders – and membership continues to grow.
“It’s a great group of people,” said Daniel Jakobcic, one of more than a half dozen guests at the Sklar mixer who pledged to join True Blue. “I’m always happy to support a good cause. I have to credit [BRPF Board of Trustees Chair] Alan Rose. He’s very motivational and a great guy.”
True Blue members can promote their businesses and share social interests during multiple dedicated events like the Sklar Furnishings mixer each year.
